My name is Eric, im 22 years old and on April 12th 2015 me and my girlfriend was in a near fatal accident. A 76 year old lady was sitting in an opposing turning lane, she did not see us and pulled out right in front of us as we were coming toward her. Essentially she cut off our path of travel, I tried to avoid her the best I could but I couldn’t, she panic and hit her accelerator pedal when she realized what she had done and the move I made was useless. We clipped the front right side of her vehicle me and my gf were the over 30ft off the motorcycle I hit the concrete and slid a distance. She (my gf) landed in a grass median, we both sustained concussions from the inpact. I woke up on the scene my gf didn’t wake up until we were in the ER. She took the worst off it, suffering a broken colar bone, scapula, broken ribs, a punctured spleen, and a punctured lung. I have a fractured sternum, big laceration on my thumb, and possibly torn ligaments on my left knee. The laceration on my turned out to be more serious than I thought I haven’t been able to use my thumb for more than a month they are gonna do surgery tomorrow to repair it. My gf is doing a lot better, she’s had to have surgery on her scapula to repair it. Also she has been through 4 chest tubes to relieve the fluid around her lung. But we both seem to be getting closer and closer to recovering fully. We both have lawyers but there has been alot of confusion with that situation. This has taken a huge tole on me. I feel partly responsiblefor what happened to my gf and that was my second motorcycle and was the one I actually wanted. It was brand new when I got it and I had only put roughly 500 miles on it. This has been hard me and my gf both mentally and emotionally dealing with the different things we been faced with. For me the thought of riding again has crossed my mind and I feel like I been cheated on my bike life and also seeing my gf in so much pain at times was hard to watch but my head is spinning and I’m unsure what to think and how to feel.
